Peach tree is a deciduous tree, there for there are some basic guide lines you should be familiar with before pruning your peach tree,
'How to prune' comes second but you must know the 'Why to prune' first in order to know How. my apologies if it sounds quite complicated but ill try to make it SIMPLE so you would get your answer and best results.
There are 3 main reasons why you should consider pruning your peach tree! or all kind of deciduous fruit trees in that case.
The 3 reasons!
Comfort - you just want to keep the tree trimmed low so you'll have easy approach for fruits and caring. that pruning act called Trimming.
Best time for trimming ? late winter just before the ground gets warmer and the Buds begin to show on the trees stems. just mark the height you want to get and prune. don't ever prune lower then one third of the tree general height.
Health - to allow air and sunlight penetrate the tree centre, its healthy and encouraging the increase of blooming that will become fruits. that's dilution pruning.
Best time for dilution? late winter just before the ground gets warmer and the Buds begin to show on the trees stems.
Maintenance - by removing old and no longer essential and productive stems you'll get young & new growth that will produce healthy fruits.
Best time for routine pruning ? during the whole year! that's right, just prune and remove dead or broken branches when ever you see them.

Word of caution before you prune :
don't prune lower then one third of the tree general height. and if you want to prune for trimming, all ways make sure doing it after blooming ends, pruning before blooming ends will heart the amount of fruits and hi, you have been waited for that long enough.
